The International Rescue Committee promotes freedom, human dignity and self-reliance by strengthening the abilities of refugees to build meaningful and productive lives in their new homeland. IRC is the leading non-sectarian, non-profit, voluntary agency assisting refugees worldwide. IRC was founded in 1933, at the request of Albert Einstein, to assist people fleeing Hitler's Nazi regime. Since then, IRC has provided direct assistance to victims of racial, religious, and ethnic persecution as well as people uprooted by war, violence and famine.
