Burundi Friends International was started by a group of women who met at a women’s retreat in May 2007. One of the women at the retreat grew up in Burundi and expressed her dream of helping her country out of poverty. With that, BFI was born. We are a small but passionate group working to fulfill those three pillars that form our foundation — education, healthcare, and economic empowerment — as they play a crucial role in directing the projects that we undertake. BFI hopes to be ambassador to the people of Burundi in voicing their existence, state of life, and obtaining and providing assistance that will help to result in a future of more stability.
