What you’ll do

Corporate Accountability’s strategic research and campaign development are at the core of what keeps our campaigns focused on winning big over the long term. You will play a critical role in shaping campaign strategy and our understanding of corporate power to ensure we are doing what most effectively will rein in the abuses of transnational corporations. And you’ll do so alongside a passionate team of other researchers and organizers from around the world.


You’ll navigate the ever-changing conditions of corporate campaigns, maintain high standards of security across campaigns and programs, and keep a close eye on factual accuracy and conceptual analysis represented in our communications, fundraising, policy-related, and campaign activities.


You’ll focus on how corporations continue to fuel the climate crisis that threatens people’s human rights, land sovereignty, the natural world, and the health and well-being of communities throughout the world—particularly Black and Indigenous people and other people of color, low-income people, and people in frontline communities and in the Global South.


You’ll be an active member of the broader climate justice movement as you build relationships and work with allies, decision-makers and policy-makers to establish long-lasting change. Your success in this role will ensure that we are implementing the smartest strategies and tactics to challenge corporate abuse around the globe, advance social justice, and producing research that makes clear that the just world we strive for is within sight.


Who you are

  • The rampant abuses of corporations and the outrageous amount of power they have make you mad as hell—and you have a track record of taking action to do something about it.

  •  You have a demonstrable commitment to advancing justice and transforming systems of oppression. You understand that campaigning for justice must include working to dismantle white supremacy, gender oppression, institutional racism, legacies of colonialism, and anti-Blackness. Additionally you have experience working in equitable partnership with Global South and grassroots groups and coalitions, and are adept at navigating a variety of cultures.

  • You have conducted research that helps to better understand the role corporations play in trampling human rights, devastating democratic institutions, and especially in destroying the planet by fueling the climate crisis. You have a clear understanding of how climate policy is shaped internationally and the way people’s movements–especially in the Global South and in front-line communities in the U.S.–can drive policy-making that promotes climate justice.

  • You’re a skilled English-language communicator: You can distill legislation, a financial disclosure, policy documents, or complex data sets into a succinct and compelling memo, white paper, or report–and have the skills to manage the project from start to finish. The ability to speak a language other than English is a plus.

  • You have qualitative and quantitative research experience (strategic corporate research, financial or policy analysis, participatory and trans-disciplinary research, and/or academic-style research). You adhere to the highest standards of research ethics and credibility and your research skills are rooted in rigor and keen attention to detail.

  • You have five or more years of research experience, which can include graduate academic experience, preferably at a campaign-oriented organization and are eligible to work in the United States.


What you’ll be responsible for in the day-to-day

  • Monitor, research, and analyze transnational corporate activities, industry trends, changing political and policy climates to inform cross-organizational campaign strategies. You will focus on issues of climate change internationally, but will help identify the ways abuses by corporations across industries intersect across campaigns and issues.

  • Synthesize large quantities of complex information and translate it into clear, compelling written and verbal content. On any given day, you could be writing a policy fact-sheet, a report, an internal update, or presenting information to decision-makers, policymakers, as well as campaigns staff, allies, and membership organizers so they are equipped with the most powerful and accurate facts.

  • Build and deepen strong, reciprocal relationships with organizational allies, policymakers, donors, and experts from around the globe.

  • Ensure a high standard of accuracy of campaign and fundraising communications, as well as assist the rest of the team in promoting security and credibility.

  • Actively participate in organization-wide planning, fundraising, racial and gender equity work, recruitment, organizational visibility, and campaign activities.

  • Once it is safe to do so, travel two to four times each year to represent Corporate Accountability at events such as conferences, corporate shareholders’ meetings, or policy-making negotiations.


Salary and benefits:

  • Salary range: $50,000 - $55,300, commensurate with experience.

  • Our comprehensive benefit package includes: health insurance (with 90% of the premium for all tiers covered by the organization); dental coverage (with 100% of the individual premium covered by the organization, option to add dependents at an additional cost); optional vision coverage (100% employee paid); voluntary life insurance; long-term disability insurance; FSA for transit, health care, and dependent care; 401(k) with employer match; and a COVID-related work-from-home stipend.
