Project Manager - Health Equity International

Position Overview 

Location: Health Equity International, Newton MA with regular travel to Haiti
Reports to: Chief Development Officer

Job Summary:

The Project Manager will be an integral member of the cross-department team leading HEI’s health systems assessment project in southern Haiti. The successful candidate will work closely with the Development and Clinical teams as well as external partner organizations, to ensure consistent communication, effective problem solving, and the timely completion of the project’s deliverables. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized, detail-oriented project manager with some global health experience. Responsibilities include:

Project Planning and Implementation:

  • Develop overall project implementation strategy, systems, approaches, tools, and materials
  • Plan and organize project implementation, including project kick-off, close-out, and coordination meetings
  • Oversee and manage the implementation of the project ensuring that technical quality and standards are considered and respected during project implementation
  • Ensure project implementation is on time, target and budget, using effective M&E systems to reach desired impacts and organizing regular meetings to review project budget and deliverables
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks and trouble-shoot any unforeseen challenges during the project implementation

Administration and Operational Management:

  • Forecast monthly cash requirements of the project and submit to HEI finance team
  • Contribute to the development of procurement plans with local operations team
  • Ensure that project staff understand and are able to perform their roles and responsibilities
  • Coordinate regular check-ins regarding the work plans and day-to-day activities of the project staff
  • Ensure project records and documents are adequately prepared, compiled, and filed
  • Facilitate the involvement of partner organizations in project design and implementation

Quality Control and Reporting:

  • Undertake regular field visits in Haiti to provide technical guidance and supervision as well as regularly monitor the progress of project activities
  • Ensure lessons learned are documented, shared and reflected in implementation and reporting
  • Draft (internal) monthly progress reports and contribute to the development of financial reports through regular budgetary follow up
  • Contribute to drafting of external project progress reports, ensuring the quality and accuracy of technical information provided

Expected skills and qualifications:

  • Project management experience required; experience in managing projects remotely highly preferred
  • Excellent organization and follow up skills
  • Proven capabilities in leadership and management required; remote management of direct reports preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • French/Haitian Creole communication skills highly preferred
  • Experience working in Haiti highly preferred
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a low-resource setting
