Solve is an initiative of MIT that advances lasting solutions from tech entrepreneurs to address the world’s most pressing problems through open innovation. Within each of Solve’s pillars – Learning, Health, Economic Prosperity, and Sustainability – a specific, actionable challenge is announced each year calling for solutions from anyone, anywhere. Solve’s current cycle of challenges includes: Community-Driven Innovation, Early Childhood Development, Healthy Cities, and Circular Economy.

Solve is seeking a Health Community Officer to join its team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing, growing, and engaging the Solve Community of private, public, nonprofit, and academic leaders and the social entrepreneurs--Solver teams--Solve supports. This role will also help create a community of diverse, cross-sector leaders relevant to health, including access, quality, and affordability, and the technologies that enable improvements in those areas. The Officer will engage startups and entrepreneurs, supporting them through incubation, mentorship, and partnership brokering. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and build a movement to address the biggest issues of our time. This is a full-time position, located in Cambridge, MA. 

Major responsibilities:

  • Research and develop relationships with diverse, cross-sector, cross-geography leaders in the health space, and contribute to Solve's revenue generation by converting them into Health Community Members
  • Manage relations and handle correspondence with these leaders to engage them with Solve and its Community, including by managing and sharing event invitations, participation logistics, invoicing, and connections to other leaders and Solver teams
  • Broker partnerships between Solver teams and Solve Community leaders to create collaborations that advance the growth of selected solutions
  • Work with other teams across Solve on planning and executing events that bring together the community in person and virtually to support Solver teams and solve the Challenges
  • Source potential sponsors and partners to develop customized partnerships with Solve, including partnerships that involve hosting Solve events, sponsoring Solver teams, and participating in the full innovation cycle
  • Participate in facilitating human-centered design thinking workshops and other Solve activities in person and virtually with the Solve Community
  • Promote new and existing Solve Challenges across the Solve Community and beyond, including with targeted outreach, to find the most promising Solver teams
  • Maintain and update customer relations management databases

Qualifications & Skills:


  • Minimum 3 years’ experience, with at least 1 years’ experience managing relationships and partnerships 
  • Highly developed organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work in an efficient manner to meet deadlines
  • Must be flexible and able to work independently, take initiative, and anticipate needs
  • Bachelor’s degree required


  • Master’s degree in an area relevant to Solve’s work
  • Experience in social and/or environmental impact organization
  • Experience in sales or nonprofit development 
  • Project management training or experience
