Events Coordinator - Refugees Welcome!

Qualifications:

  • Experience in planning events, including researching venues, contacting vendors and potential partners, budgeting, organizing volunteers, etc.;

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;

  • Any combination of formal training/education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform position duties;

  • A basic understanding of migration issues and some level of knowledge of the political landscape within Boston;

  • Collaborative working style and interpersonal communication skills;

  • Self-motivation and accountability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead in the planning of our events;

  • Develop event materials such as flyers, emails, programs, etc.;

  • Event promotion and marketing (in collaboration with our Communications team);

  • Innovative thinking of new events to accomplish our mission and reach our target audiences;

  • Attend monthly Leadership Team meetings at our office on the UMass Boston campus;

  • Mentor and supervise an intern (typically begins after the first semester).
