Komera develops self-confident women in rural Rwanda through education, community development, and health programming. Our holistic model is changing the game as we recognize that access to education is just the beginning. Komera is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, detail-oriented candidate to take on the responsibilities of the Development Fellow. This fellowship is a great opportunity to gain real world experience working in a fast-paced environment with the opportunity to both learn and make a big impact in a small but savvy organization. This virtual role will support programmatic operations in Rwanda through administrative tasks, event execution, and fundraising initiatives. This position is ideal for a graduate student seeking to enhance their studies through applied practice.


Position: Development Fellow


Role: Part-time remote role, 15-20 hours a week with EST working hours, at $15/hour compensation.


Start Date: Flexible start date, ideally February 2022. 6-month commitment required and optional extension to 1 year.


Responsibilities and Duties:


·       Maintain and update donor database in Donor Tools and Classy software

·       Log donations and manage donation acknowledgment process and stewardship support (i.e. thank you notes, donation receipts).

·       Communications support through social media, email marketing campaigns, and blog posts.

·       Support grant funding efforts with research and maintenance of grants database

·       Support Scholar Sponsorship program by updating and tracking sponsorship gifts

·       Plan and assist with preparation for all events, including annual Komera cocktails, fun runs, and fitness events

·       General administrative support as needed; As a small nonprofit, the ability to pitch in wherever when necessary is crucial (and much appreciated)!


Qualifications and Skills:


·       Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, like International Relations, Psychology, Communications, Sociology, etc. Please note, this position is an ideal match for a candidate pursuing their Master’s and looking for part-time applied practice.

·       Ideally 1-2 years relevant work experience in a small nonprofit setting.

·       Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word; Excel; PowerPoint) required. Familiarity with Google Apps, DonorTools, MailChimp, Canva, and Classy preferred.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Invested in working cross-culturally with Komera staff in Rwanda.
