Communications Intern - Job Description
Working in Haiti since 2002, the mission of the Saint Rock Haiti Foundation is to work side by side with the people of Saint Rock and the surrounding communities, implementing long-lasting solutions so that everyone, now and in the future, has the opportunity to thrive. Our goal is to diminish human inequity in the areas of health care, education, and economic opportunities. We strive to achieve this by expanding access to high-quality comprehensive primary health care, fostering self-sustaining livelihoods, increasing educational opportunities, paving economic avenues, and empowering the people of Saint Rock and their communities. We operate in an area of extreme poverty in the hills of Carrefour southwest of Port-au-Prince. The US Office is in Milton, Massachusetts.
Description: SRHF seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist in communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of communications in a small international non-profit organization.
Responsibilities: ● Update and maintain SRHF’s social media presence, including Facebook and Instagram ● Plan social media campaigns centered around SRHF initiatives. ● Assist in final migration of the old website to new website ● Update and develop content for the website ● Assist in planning, writing, and managing quarterly Newsletter ● Draft, distribute, and pitch news releases, media alert, and other stories ● Design flyer, graphics, and marketing material for major events hosted by SRHF ● Participate in weekly staff meetings - can be done remotely ● Create a Communication Handbook of policies, style, contact, and more for staff. Qualifications: ● Knowledge of available tools and platforms in the social media space ● Completed or working toward a degree preferably in a related field (for example English, Communications, Journalism, International Studies, Non-Profit Administration) ● Previous experience in communications is a plus. ● Must be computer literate - Office 360. Proficiency in Adobe InDesign highly desired. Knowledge of HTML and graphic design is a plus. ● Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts ● Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines ● Enthusiasm for the mission of the Saint Rock Haiti Foundation
Start Date: Position open until filled. Three to six-month commitment. Hours: 8-12 hours/week. Most of the work to be done remotely.
