2019-2020 Global Health Corps Fellow - Program Manager - Vecna Cares Charitable Trust

Global Health Corps is a leadership development organization that offers a yearlong paid multidisciplinary fellowship for emerging leaders, ages 21-30, through partnership with nonprofits and government agencies on the front lines of health, in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, and the US.


The Program Manager will serve at the Vecna Cares headquarters in Boston and will act as the intermediary between the technical team designing the technology applications and the product users of the technology in the field. The fellow will be responsible for helping to ensure that the product is functional, useful, and effective for the users and for helping to set and achieve program and solution goals within budget and schedule. The Program Manager will assess the efficacy and capacity of the products, demonstrate the impact of the product on healthcare challenges, and identify new market opportunities.


The Program Manager will also have the opportunity to work with a variety of web-based technologies, create and develop features on evolving medical technology products, and manage software-hardware integrations, all of which will then be turned around and used by patients and healthcare workers in the field within a matter of weeks.



Coordinate with customers and clients to capture product/project requirements and communicate those requirements to the development team

Manage feature capture and definition for new medical technology product releases

Collaborate with a team of engineers and contributors for on time and on budget healthcare technology product releases

Manage the details of multiple projects, both stateside and internationally, to coordinate unique product features and configurations for each client

Pursue funding opportunities and support client demonstrations

Contribute to a fast growing, agile team


Skills and Experiences

Items indicated with an asterisk (*) are required

Bachelor’s degree*

Experience in project leadership or management, including meeting project schedules and constraints to produce a deliverable*

Experience in documenting project activities and milestones through project reports*

Experience with partnership/relationship management, acting as the main point of contact for developers, vendors, clients/beneficiaries, or other key stakeholders*

Proficiency in basic computer programs: word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations*

Any experience in computer programming, networking and information systems: SQL, Struts, Hibernate, Spring, Eclipse, JSP, JavaScript, Maven, Tomcat, PostgreSql, Oracle, Sql Server, Groovy, Jasper Reports, Mobile Development, and/or networking

Professional experience or academic instruction related to international development or health care delivery  

Experience writing grant proposals and/or business models

Previously illustrated creativity using technology for problem solving
