The Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future will hold a lunch seminar on ‘Future Challenges of Global Energy Systems ‘ on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, featuring Dr. Rajan Gupta from the Los Alamos National Laboratory. The Seminar will be moderated by Prof. Adil Najam, Director, Pardee Center. Dr. Rajan Gupta is a theoretical physicist at Los Alamos National Laboratory and a Laboratory fellow. He obtained his Masters in Physics from Delhi University, India, and earned his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from the California Institute of Technology in 1982. He has published over 125 research papers and is a fellow of the American Physical Society. He is currently building a web based Global Energy Observatory that will provide a comprehensive view of the world’s energy systems and their networks and interdependencies. Based on this understanding and database he is carrying out a global analysis (integrating demographics, economics, health, education and energy and water resources) to help accelerate the transition to cheap and clean energy for the global population.  Lunch will be available from 11.30am, and the seminar itself will start at 12.00pm. Seating is limited to 30 participants. Please RSVP by Friday, June 4, 2010 to pardeeatbu [dot] edu
